Allan C. Bewley, 89, formerly of Leola, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015, at Brethren Village.

He was born in Monterey to the late Amos Eagle and Esther (Overly) Bewley and was the husband of the late Betty (Wenger) Bewley who passed away in 2003.

Allan was a long time member of the Conestoga Church of the Brethren, Leola. He was a graduate of Upper Leacock High School, was co owner/operator of Wenger’s Flowers, Leola, and after retirement he worked at the Garden Spot Auto Auction. Allan was a member of the Upper Leacock Fire Company where he served as a firefighter, Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Police. He was the founder of Paradise Lake Retreat, Denver, and was a member of the Pine Ridge Hunting Camp, Sullivan County.

He is survived by 3 children, Cathy B., wife of Lee E. Martin of New Holland, Paul D., husband of Carla (Ritchey) Bewley of Lititz, Bradson T., husband of Kathy (Martin) Bewley of Akron; 4 grandchildren, Katie Gensemer, Dallas Martin, Devon Martin, Tom Martin; a great-granddaughter, Hazel Martin; 4 siblings, Catherine Lytle of Columbia, Charles W. Bewley of FL, A. Lloyd Bewley of IA and Erma Dillman of Lancaster.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Dorothy Biddinger and Thelma Imhoff.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 22, at 2 pm, at the Chapel at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
