Raymond Laursen, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, at the age of 72, in his lifelong hometown of Staten Island. Born on February 8, 1952, to a close-knit community that he would one day serve with devotion, Raymond’s life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family, his business, and the sports he loved.

Raymond graduated from Curtis High School, where he began to lay the foundations for a life full of achievement and service. He went on to become the proud owner and operator of Country Pro Shop & Country Awards, a business he led with passion for over four decades. Through his work, Raymond became a pillar of the community, known for his generosity and the personal touch he brought to every interaction.

Beyond his professional life, Raymond was a fervent bowler, whose love for the sport was infectious. He dedicated over 30 years to coaching bowlers of all ages, sharing his expertise and enthusiasm, and nurturing countless individuals to excel. Raymond’s love of sports extended to the golf course, where he enjoyed many sunny afternoons, but it was the time spent with his family and friends that he treasured most.

Raymond’s legacy of love and laughter is carried on by his beloved wife, Nazareth Laursen; his children, Raymond Laursen Jr., Naz Labetti, Lisa MacConnell, and Liz Philpott; and his cherished grandchildren, Alexis Labetti, Nicholas Labetti, and Michael Laursen. He was a guiding light in the lives of his sons-in-law, James Labetti Jr., Patrick MacConnell, and Ashton Onions, all of whom will remember him for his selfless nature and his ability to brighten the darkest of days with his humor.

Those who knew Raymond best would describe him as loving, selfless, and funny—a man whose presence could transform any moment into a cherished memory. His laughter was a beacon of joy, and his willingness to help others knew no bounds. He lived his life with a heart full of kindness, always placing the needs of his loved ones above his own.

As we bid farewell to Raymond, we reflect on a life well-lived—a life filled with love, service, and the simple pleasures that make each day worthwhile. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us.

In honor of Raymond’s memory, we will carry forward the lessons he taught us through his example: to cherish every moment, to live with laughter, and to love without reservation. Raymond’s story may have reached its conclusion, but the chapters he wrote in the lives of those around him will be revisited and cherished for generations to come.

Raymond will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his presence will forever remain with us. As we gather to share stories and memories, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in each act of kindness we bestow upon one another, just as he would have wanted.

Rest in peace, Raymond Laursen. Your memory will be a keepsake from which we will never part.
