Patricia “Pattie” E. Herman-Nelson passed away on Sept 14, 2024 in Arnold Walters Rehab. Her husband and oldest son were by her side.

She was born in Queens, NY on Dec 9, 1955. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Herman, Sr., her precious sons: Robert, Jr., Stephen and Daniel and her sister in-laws, brother in-laws and nieces and nephew.

She is predeceased by: her parents (Walter and Patricia Nelson), her brother (Stephen Nelson), her mother and father in-law (George and Helen Herman), and her beloved nanny (Clara Nelson). Although she had many pets, the loss of her Chloe broke her heart – they were inseparable.

She worked for many years as an Aide for UCP at various locations on Staten Island, NY. Helping others was her passion as her baby brother was born with cerebral palsy. She would give her last dime or minute of time if it would benefit others.

She was a Staten Islander that moved to the beautiful town of Keyport, NJ in the mid 1980’s. She was a lover of Christmas! Any chance she had she would add to her Christmas Village and if allowed she would be decorating for Christmas on November 1st! She was a fan of Halloween as well. She loved to see the smiles on the kids’ faces after they received their trick or treat candy. She loved all animals but, of course, none more than her fur babies at home.

She loved having visitors to her home, for example, in the summer when her sons would bring over their friends to swim in the pool.  She would always have snacks at the ready. Some of these friends even called her Mom.

She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Services will be on Sunday, Sept 22, 2024 at the John E Day Funeral Home at 85 Riverside Ave, Redbank, NJ from 1 pm to 5 pm. Interment will be at the Restland Memorial Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ on Monday Sept 23, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her Go fund me account: https://gofund.me/91ef72f6 or a donation to the American Cancer Society in Patricia’s Honor.
