David Thomas Castro, 22, of Lexington, passed away July 9, 2019, at his residence. David was born April 28, 1997 in West Islip, New York to Eileen Mariah Douglass-Castro and David Frank Castro. David spent his early years as a youth in West Babylon, New York and moved to Greensboro, NC at the age of 11. David then attended Western Guilford HS, where he graduated in 2015, and attended classes at GTCC, in hopes of becoming a pilot one day.

David worked at Friends Home West, in the Food & Nutrition Dept during his HS years and then started working at Atrium Windows and Doors in the months leading up to his passing.

David was a handsome, friendly, talented young man who was a prankster. He loved to get you all up in arms about something, and then come back with a “Gotcha” moment. David’s hobbies included playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends, Cosplaying, attending Anime Conventions and playing video games. On Xbox he was known as “TheAliveShip”, on Playstation his call sign was “FlamingGodofNoobs”, and to his D&D friends his character was “Otaku”.

David is preceded in death by his Abuelo, Francisco Santiago Castro and his Great-Grandmother, Frances Joan Royston.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Selena Castro, Justin McCoy, Antonio Castro and Alexis Castro, his step-parent, Albert L McCoy Jr, his Grandmothers, Suzanne M Douglass, lovingly known as “Oma”, Frances Thurneau, lovingly known as “Aba” (Abuela), and Rosemary Castro, lovingly known as “Nana”, his grandfather, Robert Thurneau, uncles Norbert Thomas Douglass and Frank Castro, his aunt, Elisa Castro and a slew of cousins and other relatives.
