Susan L. O’Connell, 59, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Born in Philadelphia on April 26, 1960 she was a daughter of the late Edna E. Ruckel and Francis J. O’Connell; stepdaughter of James Ruckel and M. Adele O’Connell. She lived most of her life in Montgomery and Chester Counties, but later moved to Harrisburg, PA to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Susan was a graduate of Wissahickon High School, Ambler, PA and earned an associate’s degree from the University of Phoenix. She held several types of jobs throughout her life including warehouse, courier, clerical, and customer service. She loved camping and being outdoors, and was a dedicated fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
She is survived by her daughter, Stefani M. Eichelberger (R. Clark) of Camp Hill, PA; grandchildren Caroline and Caleb, who she adored; she was a sister of the late Eric W. Simon and Richard H. Simon. She is also survived by her brothers Timothy O’Connell (Kathleen), of Collegeville, PA, and Daniel (Susan) O’Connell of Blue Bell, PA; sister Diane Barron (Ted) of Newburgh, Indiana. Also survived by her stepsisters Frances Robinson, Susan Swift, and Marilyn Torpey of Honey Brook, PA, and Deborah McGlade of Glenside, PA; stepbrothers David Ruckel of Dubois, PA and Stephen Ruckel of Long Island, NY. She was the former wife of the late John J. Hallinger. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at the discretion of the family.
